AQUATICS

Lifeguard
Looking for those that have a passion to swim! The Lifeguard creates a safe and positive atmosphere that welcomes and respects all individuals while promoting and maintaining safe swimming conditions in the pool, deck and surrounding areas in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures. Start Date: March 4

Seasonal Lifeguard
Outdoor pool is open May-September START DATE:  May 5th through May 12th

Job Qualifications

  • Must complete a swim test
  • Current American Red Cross Lifeguard certification a plus
  • Ability to maintain certification-level physical and mental readiness
  • Previous lifeguard experience is preferred. Minimum of 16 years of age with appropriate work permits.
  • Must have high level of alertness, concentration, and initiative.

Swim Instructor
Looking for those that have a passion to swim. This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility, Delivers an excellent experience to all members, guests, and program participants. The Swim Instructor maintains a supportive, positive atmosphere that welcomes and respects all individuals and provides direct leadership, instruction and motivation for students in swim classes. START DATE: March 4

Job Qualifications

  • Must complete a swim test to qualify
  • Must be able to demonstrate swim instructor skills in accordance with YMCA standards.
  • Ability to relate and communicate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
  • Previous swim instruction or swim team experience preferred.
  • Minimum of 16 years of age with appropriate work permits.
  • Current American Red Cross Lifeguard, YMCA Lifeguard, or equivalent certification preferred.

Aquatic Fitness Instructor

The Aquatic Fitness Instructor creates a positive environment that welcomes all skill and fitness levels, modifying movements as needed to meet varied health, ability and cultural needs. Assists in membership development and retention by effectively building community within the class and helping members improve well-being. START DATE: March 4

Job Qualifications

  • Must perform a water fitness demo on 2/17/19.
  • Must have experience teaching swim or fitness classes.
  • Aquatic Water Fitness certification a plus!
  • Minimum age 18 years old.

YOUTH AND FAMILY

Kid Zone

Kid magnets wanted! Make the Y an engaging and stimulating place for children 6 weeks through 7 years. Playing an important role in creating a safe, fun, and nurturing environment for children and building relationships with parents to provide a peace of mind, knowing their children are in good hands. START DATE: March 4

Job Qualifications

  • Willingness to be awesome required!
  • Must enjoy interacting with children of all ages; practical knowledge and experience in working/volunteering with youth between the ages of 3-5 is preferred.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills are essential in order to work with YMCA members, participants and all Y staff to promote and achieve the goals and objectives of the Youth programming.
  • The ability to perform physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs, while moving entire body over a period of time is required.
  • Minimum age 16 years old.

CAMP

Camp Counselor (SEASONAL May-August)

Join the fun at Camp! As Camp Counselor, you are responsible for the daily engagement of the campers and their wellbeing. Create a fun, safe, energy-burning recreational time for youth ages 3-5 or 6-13 years, leading age appropriate activities such as dodgeball, basketball and kickball, obstacle courses or fitness challenges plus time in the Indoor Pool.  Plan and implement crafts and play games such as spoons, dice, cards, and other board games as well as other team building games.  Emphasize the Y values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility in all activities. START DATE: May 18

Job Qualifications

Wellness Coach

Responsible for moving about the fitness floor, creating a friendly and supportive environment, building relationships, providing demonstrations and answering general questions while ensuring safety, YMCA policies and exceptional customer service. START DATE: March 4

Job Qualifications

  • Must love fitness and helping other achieve their goals.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to relate and communicate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
  • Minimum of two years customer service experience.
  • 1-2 years customer service experience preferred.
  • Personal training certification a plus!
  • Minimum age 18 years old.

Group Exercise Instructor

Looking for people who love what they do! You will be responsible for providing high-quality instruction and guidance for members by teaching safe, effective and enjoyable classes.  You will create a positive environment that welcomes all skill and fitness levels, modifying movements as needed to meet varied health, ability and cultural needs. Assists in membership development and retention by effectively building community within the class and helping members improve well-being. START DATE: March 4

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum age of 18 years old
  • Perform a demo on Job Fair Day.
  • Must have experience teaching classes.
  • Certified in one nationally recognized group exercise certification (ACE, ACSM, NASM, AFAA, NETA).

Personal Trainer

Is helping people with their fitness goals your passion? The PT will focus on increasing member retention by way of creating a welcoming environment for all YMCA members in the fitness center through member engagement, guidance and support. Aid members in lifestyle coaching and fitness-related change through goal setting and equipment orientation. Responsible for following basic principles of strength and conditioning, consistently complying with guidelines set by the YMCA and ACSM. START DATE: March 4

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to relate and communicate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
  • Current nationally recognized and YMCA-approved personal training certification such as, ACE, ACSM, NASM, AFAA, NETA.

MEMBERSHIP

Manager on Duty

This position requires hours of roughly 5am-10pm, with no more than 30 hours per week. The Manager on Duty (in the absence of any other ranking director or coordinator) will be responsible for the overall supervision of the YMCA building and grounds. Delivering excellent customer service to all members, guests, and program participants is priority. You will respond to member and guest needs, promotes memberships and programs, and creates a welcoming environment. START DATE: March 4

Job Qualifications

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to relate and communicate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
  • Previous customer service, sales or related experience
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred.

Member Engagement Representative

The Member Engagement Representative is responsible for implementing member services and engagement strategies that support the recruitment of new members and the retention of existing members in a welcoming environment. Will respond to member and guest needs, promote memberships and programs, and create a welcoming environment. START DATE: March 4

SPORTS

Adult Sports Referee

Looking for those that love sports! You will officiate adult sports programs according to the general rules of the sport as well as any rules specific to the Crossroads YMCA. Stop play when necessary and explain violations consistently and fairly. Know, demonstrate, and interpret the YMCA philosophy to players and fans. Including but not limited to; Basketball, Volleyball, Football, Soccer, Softball and various social sports. START DATE: May 1

Job Qualifications

  • Report injuries to Program Director, following safety procedures and guidelines.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to work with varying ages and to manage large groups and the ability to control all aspects of the game that you are officiating.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • Licensed Official a plus!

Youth Sports Staff

The Youth Sports Staff develops and maintains relationships with youth and adult sports participants; maintaining a high level of customer service at all times.  Models a leadership role; serves as a coach, referee, and league official. START DATE: May 1

Job Qualifications

  • Must have youth sports experience and be passionate working with kids.
  • Ability to work independently, problem-solve, and effectively communicate.
  • Must demonstrate strong organization and planning skills; able to prioritize and multi-task.
  • Must have experience working with youth sports.
  • Minimum 16 years old.

FACILITIES

Housekeeper

Looking for those that love to clean! Ensures Y is attractive and clean by completing all duties listed on the daily schedule and maintains upkeep of assigned area and equipment. Will perform wet and dust mopping, dusting, trash removal, recycling, window washing, vacuuming, seasonal activities dealing with snow removal and general cleaning of restrooms & locker rooms. Must work well with others, demonstrate positive Y values to members and staff and be a self-motivated team player. START DATE: March 4

Job Qualifications

  • 6-months cleaning or housekeeping experience.
  • For the safety of staff and members, must be able to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents.
  • Sufficient physical strength and agility to carry out essential duties.
  • Must be able to lift 50lbs. Ability to erect and stand on ladders and platforms at heights up to 20 feet.
  • Ability to work with paint, cleaning equipment, chemical compounds, solvents, cleaners, and solutions in dry, liquid, powder, spray, and aerosol forms.
  • Clean equipment, and operate motorized equipment as needed.
  • Ability to work in conditions that will create dirt and dust.
  • Ability to perform essential maintenance to facility or equipment which may involve, but not limited to the following activities: semi – reaching to full-reach overhead; crouching; kneeling; shoveling; carrying, working in narrow and/or confining spaces: underground, overhead, and at ground level; twisting of the waist, shoulders, and legs; and lying on stomach and/or back.
